Aerzen offers complete service for machines

Environmental guide partner Aerzen

Maintenance is more than reactive repair

The world of industrial maintenance continues to evolve constantly. However, one constant remains: the need for in-depth knowledge of technology and the operation of machines. Aerzen supports its customers with far-reaching service, which is committed to proactive maintenance and overhaul.

Aerzen does more than make high-quality machines and power units: the German company is committed hard to long-term support for its customers. The two focal points here are proactive maintenance and overhaul. Prior to the Maintenance fair, we spoke with Chantal Frederick and Bert Vandermeulen to further explain this thoughtful strategy.

The world of industrial maintenance is changing rapidly. What remains at the heart of the story for Aerzen?

“For us, technical knowledge from professionals with experience is key. Indeed, there are many new technologies that show promise: just think of AI. Although Aerzen follows all this closely, we find that companies need people with the right skillset first and foremost. We therefore know our machines through and through. So our technicians will quickly recognize elements that indicate imminent failure. Nowadays, many companies outsource their maintenance to third parties. The downside of this is that these external technicians often do not get the chance to become familiar with the machines, so they often pick up subtle signals. Just think of strange noises or abnormal vibrations. Our technicians, supported by the right techniques and tools, know the machines like their inside pocket and can thus get on the ball quickly.”

How does Aerzen see industrial maintenance continuing to evolve?

“Proactive and predictive maintenance are becoming increasingly important. Companies obviously want to avoid costly downtime and want to move away from the old model of replacing things when a problem effectively occurs. We only see this trend strengthening, supported by ever-increasing amounts of data. Our machines can be equipped with smart controls so that we can monitor them in detail. The great advantage is that this allows us to intervene in time and be proactive. The analysis of this data, combined with the experience of our technicians, enables us to see problems coming. It is now possible to read out faults remotely and even solve a lot of issues without the need for physical intervention.”

How is Aerzen capitalizing on the increasingly important theme of sustainability?

“In addition to maintenance, overhauling machines is very important to us. In this way we bring the machine back to as good as new condition so that it can last for years again. So it’s not waiting for a machine to break down and then buying a new one. We evaluate during our inspections whether there is a need for an overhaul, upon which the necessary parts are replaced. In addition, we provide a six-month warranty on these parts, giving your company peace of mind for a long time. We also offer many replacement machines that can be fitted in seamlessly while the old machine is being repaired or a new one is on its way. This avoids production downtime and gives you time to make sustainable decisions.”

What are the customer benefits of Aerzen’s approach?

“The big advantage is continuity in production; and therefore a lot of savings. With reactive maintenance, it will often happen that a worn part causes the machine to break down. Then production comes to a halt and it costs a lot to buy a new machine and bring it into production. Proactive maintenance and overhaul prevent this from happening. Thus, the machine can be repaired or overhauled when it is convenient for the company and not as a sudden emergency solution. Moreover, the costs end up not only being lower, but also much more predictable and spread out over time. For many companies, this is an absolute advantage.”

How does Aerzen make a difference?

“We distinguish ourselves by our far-reaching service. Here we look beyond the machine alone. For us, the complete picture counts: after all, our machine is only part of the total installation. Thus, we will make suggestions to make everything run better so that our machine performs optimally. So we go beyond changing a few parts. Customized advice is very important to us anyway. So our slogan is not just “Let’s talk.” So companies can always contact us to go over the options and find a suitable (total) solution. We offer more than maintenance: we immediately offer our in-depth expertise.”
